Located in the heart of Bury St Edmunds – a town increasingly renowned for its restaurant scene – 1921 Angel Hill provides a uniquely refreshing fine dining option.
With Zack Deakins as chef patron, the restaurant follows an unconventional approach with relaxed service and the food reigning supreme.
Guests can enjoy a selection of canapés served alongside an aperitif in the lounge, whilst viewing a menu championing local produce, before moving into the dining room, accented with local artwork and re-homed books.
Expertly crafted starters include tender Ardleigh asparagus accented by truffle croquettes, deftly served alongside radish and roasted hazelnuts.
Main courses are further reflective of the surrounding farmland, currently including a succulent saddle of lamb sourced from the Denham Estate, accompanied by wild garlic and girolles.
Finish the evening in proper English fashion, with a delicately aromatic strawberry consommé and lavender panna cotta, to be followed, of course, by Bury’s own Butterworth’s coffee and a selection of hand-crafted petit fours.

"We spent a wonderful couple hours here with some good friends from France. Well from the Canapés through to the Petit Fours everything was a taste sensation. Service was superb , attentive without being intrusive. We shall certainly be returning."
"This restaurant lived up the to the high quality of our original first visit. The meals appeared faultless in presentation, and then also in tasting, there were hefty amounts of flavour in each mouthful."
"We were sitting in a traffic jam on the M11 cursing leaving London for the day and then we ended up at this wonderful place! Food is excellent, front of house is wonderfully run by (I think Jess) and the whole experience is great."
"I had heard some good noises about this restaurant and it did not disappoint. A colleague described as the best restaurant in Bury St Edmunds. The service was excellent, almost invisible until you needed something and then they were there. The food was very flavoursome and presented beautifully. Very willing to recommend and we will go back."
"Our menu choices were veal tartare, followed by fish and then orange brûlée. All in all extremely well presented and exquisitely tasty."
