Moutard Champagne Dinner Evening

– House of Moutard Champagne Tasting –

We recently hosted our first champagne tasting five course dinner event featuring House of Moutard Champagne. Moutard is a very respected brand for us at 1921, so much so that, it happens to be our house Champagne. The evening started off with canapés upon arrival in our bar and lounge area. The pairing for the canapés was Grand Cuvée which is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir aged on its lees for a minimum of 3 years which gives it a very balanced flavour and, made it perfect for starting the evening. After arrival drinks, the guests were then shown to their tables and surprised with a hostess from House of Moutard who would go on to explain each champagne that came out with each course.

The first two courses came out with their respective pairings and a lovely presentation from the hostess. The main dish we chose was a fillet of pork, snails, creamed parsley, wild garlic, and pomme anna paired with a 2007 Moutard 6 Cepages. This particular Champagne has a delicious mix of floral, citrus and nutty flavours and a beautiful golden colour which paired perfectly with the pork and snails. Last but certainly not least, the guests were treated to a dessert of poached rhubarb with strawberry sorbet, lavender jelly, and meringue paired with Moutard Prestige Rosè.

The guests were also treated to an extremely interesting story of how Rosè Champagne began around the time of aristocratic France, as a Champagne only fit for the less fortunate but brought to high society by non other than Marie Antoinette.

All in all our team at 1921 had a fantastic time and, received feedback that all of our guests did as well. We can’t wait for our next event!

Cheers!
